We're big fans of the Forstner Pilot Ref. F-6B/346 for a lot of reasons.

This watch took a heckuva long time to get right, as our goal was not only to produce a pilot watch to the original Mark XI specifications (the British Royal Air Force spec. called the 6B/346), but to also elevate the overall package to something more.

The devil is always in the details, and the details were our focus.  Starting with the basics, the watch maintains its original diameter (36mm) and lug-to-lug length (46mm), as well as its dial layout - having white Arabic hour markers against a matte black dial, with lume only set at 12, 3, 6, and 9.

But those are just the basics.  We then added texture to the dial for a more pleasing aesthetic as well as greater visual contrast, noticeably elevated the dial markers and text from the dial, made an extra long seconds hand reaching all the way to the end of the dial as well as a long tail, tried to obtain the perfect length and width of minute and hours hands, added drilled lug holes, fitted the crystal with double domed sapphire, applied antireflective coating under the crystal, increased the water resistance to 100M, and created a custom large onion type crown, among many other details.  It took forever, but we're thrilled with the final product.

In addition to the black dial variant, Forstner went rogue and made a non-mission-spec version with a textured white dial and pumpkin-colored hour markers and hands, each surrounded by a crisp black border (the seconds hand being entirely black), because it just looks so good.

Worn & Wound was kind enough to spend some time with the Pilot Ref. F6B/346, and wrote an in depth review, which can be found here.  We'd love for you to take a look!
